A Message to Greene County Taxpayers
As a native of Greene County, I recognize the many benefits we enjoy as citizens of this great county. The diversity of our economy, numerous healthcare facilities, low unemployment rate, excellent schools, low crime rate, and a large variety of recreational opportunities, make this a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
The 240,391 citizens of Greene County (2000 Census) enjoy a relatively
low cost of living and low tax rates. These and other positive influences
help the county rank as a “Top 10 Place to Live and Work” (Employment
Review).
The benefits of living in Greene County include a healthy real estate market, both commercial and residential. The average selling price of a home in Greene County was $126,240 in 2004, and $142,176 in 2006. This reflects an increase of about 13% in a two year period of time. The increasing property values are reflected in both existing and newly constructed homes.
Commercial real estate has also shown a substantial growth in value during the past several years. Though not directly tied to real estate values, the value of personal property has also shown significant growth.
Our office pledges to continue its efforts to appraise property fairly,
accurately, and equally, in accordance with the statutes of the State
of Missouri.
We hope you find this guide helpful.
